About You
There were certain aspects which were incredible difficult and I enjoyed overcoming the challenge of understanding the content, yet there were other areas that were very simple and tiresome.
Every employee made sure that I felt as welcome as possible and they were willing to sacrifice as much time as possible for me at the blink of an eye.
Whenever I looked as if I was struggling, there would be someone to help and whenever I asked if there was something to do, someone would always try to give me something I was capable of doing.
It gave me a great insight into how monetary policy is implemented and how the financial system as a whole operates, which should greatly help with my course.
The Company
The first couple of weeks had me going to very interesting meetings, and making sure I was trying out new activities but by the final week, it felt very dull.
The atmosphere was great in the first 3/4 of my stay, there was always a buzz around the office. However, by the time I left, a lot of people were on holiday (my fault due to the date I arrived not theirs, I know) so the atmosphere was a lot 'slower'.
There were a couple of seminars and meetings, but apart from that, there wasn't too much. This is probably due to the fact that I was only there for 4 weeks and they are not willing to invest all that time and money for someone not around long enough to fully appreciate and practice any personal training and development skills.
It was a huge eye-opener to how the BoE functions within society and the economical world.
I learnt that there was a perfect mix between friendly camaraderie and precise execution of tasks set to them.
I learnt that a role within the Bank could be a nurturing and fruitful one, especially in the early years of my job career.
Everything Else
However, they would not give me any ideas on how to get any (or pay for) accommodation which was very unnerving as I live far away from London and have no experience of London itself.
All I had to do was drop them an e-mail and they re-scheduled meetings to come meet me whenever, very helpful indeed!
I was able to come to some leaving drinks and also some leaving meals, which was great as I felt as if I had already been integrated as part of the division 'family'.
There were always e-mails arriving in my inbox about activities out of work, but naturally I never attended.
It entirely depends on what this friends interests are in, but it was certainly a nice place to work with lovely staff and the work itself can be very rewarding, so I do believe even people outside the economical field should give it a go.
