About You
The insight was just FANTASTIC! Great opportunity to see what working for an investment bank is, had a great time in the city, there's been plenty of networking, interactive and interesting sessions and met some people I'm going to be connected with for the rest of my life!! BAML treated us very well and provided us with all the info we need for a career in the City, allowing us to perfect or pick up new soft skills very valuable for employers and employees alike at the assessment centres and throughout our careers! Would recommend it to anyone, even those that aren't sure about a career in the banking field!
Really like family! Each and every one of us was greeted very well, welcomed to the firm, offered a welcome bag with BAML-branded goodies and was led to know each representative of the firm from every possible line of business that was available to be around during the week. We were made part of the team, got thrown straight in and there were always people around asking for feedback and making up for anything not going flawlessly. I felt like a proper employee, being able to move around and use resources with the temp staff card we've been given, being able to use the facilities and seeing everybody smiling and welcoming you to the firm. A proper welcome, which made me feel like a very valued employee!!
A lot! There were PLENTY of people around and they were always there to listen to your very question and answer anything literally. The most heard sentence during the week was 'no question is a stupid question', which led to plenty of networking during the week with all representatives from the firm's various lines of business. Any query we had, there were people ready to take it; any problem was solved quickly and easily; guidance was always at hand when we needed tips on anything from presentation building to internship application processes!!
For life and beyond, I'd say, I'm going to always make good use of these skills. More than skills, a treasure trove. Really, I learned more skills and developed communication/networking skills I already had even further. We picked up plenty of skills and information which are going to be incredibly valuable for the whole of our career and life either at the firm or elsewhere, anything from internship application tips to networking advice. For my degree they will help me to tackle challenges and time-short situations much more easily, beyond my degree they'll make me successful as an employee!! Great hands-on experience!
The Company
Flawless. The week was organised incredibly well!! The Campus recruitment team was always there to ensure that everything was really seamless and well structured. Presentations and sessions covered every area/department within the bank, with senior representatives talking about the scope and objective of each of those areas. Interactive sessions and games were put in place for us to get an insight into some of the activities (like trading) or skills (innovation) needed to work in a firm like BAML. Furthermore, presentation preparation and delivery was very helpful and necessary for us to pick up skills for life, and very well organised. Really well done, a greatly intense but very helpful week!
Amazing!! All of the other insight participants were just fabulous... There were plenty of opportunities to socialise with both the bank's employees and interns and other insight participants. The bank put up a drinks session and a formal dinner for two of the evenings, and lunches/breakfasts/other opportunities for networking were on every day. Needless to say, we were so happy to have met fantastic people that in the evening we went out for a drink together discussing the day ahead and the one that had just passed, sometimes with some of the firm's analysts joining us too!
They invested plenty on me! The one-on-one work shadowing, tailored sessions and presentations were in place for us to learn, develop new skills and get trained for working at such a big firm... I felt welcomed and wanted, with all the resources they had dedicated to us!!
The insight was spot on for that! Every single activity gave us the opportunity to see what working for BAML would be like... Every employee during networking sessions would explain how their work-life balance is and what's required of them when working, or mention some of the projects they've been/are currently working on. It was very helpful to understand this, and strengthened my being convinced to apply for an internship with them!
Very much! We've been introduced to everything BAML, being taught about their key beliefs and core values such as 'we're better when we're connected' or 'one team', which we heard a lot during the week and taught us the value of networking and teamwork... Corporate Social Responsibility was presented to us too, and all the employees gave their opinion and overview of the company culture, which was very helpful for understanding whether I did want an internship with them or not!
Amazing! The week convinced me to follow the technology path, first by applying for an internship at BAML, then anywhere possible!! It was very helpful for confirming my intentions for the future!
Everything Else
We have received an expense reinbursement form. Flights, coaches or trains to/from our place of study and a travelcard for the week (to move between the offices and our accommodation, which was EXCELLENT!) have been paid for, plus some other minor expenses for any other transport or something unaccounted for. Meals (dinners, when not provided) are not paid. Accommodation was provided and paid for in Stratford, not far from their City / Canary Wharf offices, and it was amazing, big and comfortable!
All the time! Breakfast, lunch and dinner (provided most of the time) always had analysts, associates and vice presidents present to network with, and after each session/activity there was a Q&A time and we had the opportunity to network one-on-one!
Flawless. The dinner and drinks were fantastic, we were spoiled for choice and treated very well, and analysts and associates were there to network with us. The other networking opportunities were fantastic and very helpful too, with all of our questions being answered on the spot!
Yeah, we did... The overview of CSR gave us an insight into activities employees can undertake outside working hours, like volunteering, attending socials, raising money for socials and so on! All the employees we networked with mentioned various opportunities they had in their own personal experience!
Completely! It was a fun-packed, thrilling, exciting and vibrant week, with plenty of amazing opportunities to meet incredible people and get to know new concepts and gain experience for your future insights/internship/career!!! :D
