About You
The insight week was well organised and everything ran smoothly. The activities were very much games based, and were very fun to partake in. It really emphasised the team work aspect.
They looked after all the participants very well. This ranges from the catering, to the hotel they arranged for us. The HR staff were super friendly.
Whenever we had a team based activity we had a few people from the firm to give us guidance. They were keen to make sure we were on track.
Skills developed on the insight were not technical. However, transferable skills such as team work, leadership etc were definitely developed. Also speaking to a range of staff gave good insight into career choice.
The Company
Very well structured. We were guided from one activity to another seamlessly. Only thing was I was we had more breaks!
The staff was very friendly, including HR and the bankers. Hence the general atmosphere was really good and not very competitive.
The games were focusing on specific skills or industry insight. I felt that this was good for personal development. Also, they often had great prizes for the winners, so it felt like the firm invested a lot.
It is difficult to really gauge what the work would be like just from the insight programme. All the people from different divisions were pooled together, hence there was less to learn about in terms of specific teams. However, the shadowing of an analyst in your division did give better understanding.
Very clear that the bank has one of the best cultures. This was reflected in all the people I met.
Quite valuable in terms of getting a broad overview. However, difficult to gauge day to day activities so need further investigation to decide on future career path.
Everything Else
Every day there was a breakfast with all the participants. At lunchtimes we had networking lunches with members of the firms, and sometimes in the evenings we would have social events organised. These were organised perfectly, and were very fun to participate in.
Definitely worth going to. It gives you a better understanding of the industry. It also allows you to experience more the culture of a specific bank. Opportunity for fast tracking at the end is great.
