The Role
The placement was interesting and gave challenging work to complete at times. However i often found my self without work to do and having to continue to bug colleagues to see if i could help them in anyway.
The team were great and provided support from start to finish. Although we had a great work relationship, the placement was too short to enable the relationships to become more friendly.
Initially i was given very little guidance as to what i would be doing during my time at the bank. I had to make a start on the task briefly mentioned by my self as i often found my self with nothing to do. As the weeks went on i found support to become much better.
A lot of my time spent was asking colleagues for work so i was often very bored. Sometimes when i did receive work however i was too busy resulting in overtime.
I was not given very much responsibility during my placement as i was not able to find work for myself to complete.
They have benefited my presentation skills and social skills even further.
The Company
A great atmosphere with a real range of people and backgrounds. I found everyone was very polite and friendly and all were keen to have a chat with me if we ever bumped into each other in the kitchen area.
I would have to admit it was very poorly set up. Not only did i often find myself with little or no work to do i was also not allocated a department for my final week. It seemed as if my final week was abit of a waste of time as i seemed to only be having meetings with people from different areas to pass the time. Saying this however i think HR did a good job tailoring these meetings to my interests.
No personal training or development was provided during my time.
Despite often not having much to do i would still consider working for the Bank of England due to the great atmosphere and interesting work that it provided to the employees.
The Culture
The social scene between students only existed due to a number of the interns being very sociable people.
