The Role
This internship was a great experience- both because of the steep learning curve and work itself but also because of the great atmosphere in the office.
Everyone was so welcoming, and when they saw that I could be trusted with certain pieces of work, they came to ask me to help with small pieces of work.
Both my buddy and manager were so open to any questions, and helped me whenever I needed it.
Tax was less structured than audit, so on some days the workload could be a little overwhelming, but on others it was a little bit quiet.
Much more than I thought an intern would be given. Before starting I thought I would be doing a lot of scanning/making tea, but it wasn't like that at all- I felt like I was genuinely given responsibility.
I learned so much in these 6 weeks. The numeracy skills and the variety of experiences with clients and other team members will help me very much in the future.
The Company
It was great- everyone was extremely professional but also lighthearted and made the day fun.
Once again tax was less structured than audit, and the training very audit focused. However training on the job itself was extremely useful.
The internship began with a three day training at Latimer house, which made it perfect to meet all the UK interns, and start our training.
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
I was offered a job for the next graduate intake.
The Culture
The other interns were all extremely friendly, going for drinks after work and meeting for lunches.
Socialising was great, however our internship was during the Edinburgh festival- which made it really fun but also extremely expensive for accommodation.
Edinburgh is a really fun city, and the nightlife is great.
I didn't join any sports teams or anything but there were various opportunities to do so.
