The Role
The skills learnt on this placement were invaluable, everybody was really friendly and there was a great atmosphere around the office.
Everybody was really friendly, I was able to join technical discussions and make key discussions in the progression of the project and was handed important roles and responsibilities.
was given fantastic support by my line manager, however he was on holiday for two weeks which made it slightly harder to receive support. There were people I could call and others in the office who could help me though
if anything slightly too busy, especially in the last week of my placement. But its better to be too busy than to have nothing to do!
I was given a key role in the project completing the calculations for all the steel work in the superstructure of the bridge I was working on.
The skills I have learnt over the last 9 weeks will be extremely useful boh in my university degree and in the world of work when I graduate.
The Company
Fantastic, humors emails were often sent and cakes were bought for every's birthdays which happened quite often! There was a relaxed feel to working which help me fit in.
Well, It did take a while before there was any response however and interviews were very close to exam time which was slightly inconvenient.
I had to do the compulsory Mott MacDonald training courses but apart from that no special training. the skills I used on the job however have helped me develop as an engineer.
Flexi Time
Company Parties/Events
Would love to work with Motts again and they seemed keen to have me back next year.
The Culture
Yeah a great social scene. Every Friday we would go out from drinks and in my time on my placement there were activities such as bbqs, climbing, laser tagg and a company sports day organised.
I lived with my parents as I was in my home city and so hard to tell how expensive it was.
Pretty decent, Cardiff is a good night out, especially after a rugby or football match!
