    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • 4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • 4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My supervisor was quite helpful with providing support when I first started and was full of questions. Sometimes she got too busy and support was harder to get.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I started out quite slow and with mundane tasks, but towards the end I found myself deeply immersed in various assignments.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was an assignment for which my line manager expected my direct input and suggestions, and although this was daunting at first it was a great learning curve.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • 3/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The people I worked with were great! Lots of talking and lots of joking on a daily basis, but things got a bit tense at the beginning of each month as there was a greater workload.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Solid structure in place for the internship, however I wish I got insight on more finance areas, as well as better training on software.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Lots of training available online, which was free to access. Also some basic training in software skills.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    National Travel

    Above 25 days holiday

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The finance graduate rotational program at RR is well-paid (considering it's not in London) and provides you with the chance to travel and discover what area of Finance you like most. The only disadvantage is that continuous rotations won't allow you to specialize in something in particular.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There were very few graduates/apprentices/interns at our site, so it was often difficult to organize nights out. Other sites such as Derby and Bristol are better for interns.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Decently priced, accommodation is well-kept and relatively cheap in the surrounding areas.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Going out on weekends meant we had to share our nightlife with rough locals, so nights out on weekdays were often better.

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Not much I'm afraid, this is because I was based in quite a small site. We did have football, tennis, bowling, movies organized sometimes.

    2/5
