The Role
The working environement is very friendly. It is perhaps the most laid back place I have ever worked, but at the same time it has one of the best work ethics. Intel is a very Flexible company also which really contributed to making it a great place to work.
The work I did at intel was an itegral part of the business. I was given real jobs and real responsibilities which mattered and not just medial jobs which made no difference. Teamwork is a big part of intel and I felt valued by my colleagues just as I valued their help.
I was given a lot of support from my manager. We had weekly 1:1 meetings to discuss my development and what I could do to make myself better and what intel could do for me to make me into a better employee. Due to the relaxed working environment management are very approachable at intel and they are always more than happy to give help or chat about anything you are working on to maybe offer support or a different perspective.
I could be as busy or as bored as I wanted which is something I liked. I had a lot of scope to take on extra projects so It was left down to me as to how busy or bored I was dependent on how much I wanted to get frrom the placement.
I think I was given as much responsibility as was possible for a new employee. I did real jobs that mattered, some with legal implications if they were not done. I was soley responsible for a lot of things and while i had others around I could ask for help I never had anyone constantly looking over my shoulder and double checking everything I did.
I will take most of what I have learnt at this placement forward to help me further in life. Intel provided a lot of training courses on useful things such as presentation skills, micro inequities, accounting practices etc... so there was a lot for me to get out of this placement. There are also the more subtle skills you aquire such as office etiquette.
The Company
The atmosphere is very relaxed and casual. There was definitely a lot of time for fun.
Extremely well set up. There is a very well thought our overlap between old and new interns where they have about 4-6 weeks to teach the new guys the job which makes the whole integration process a lot less daunting.
We as interns were free to enroll in any training sessions we thought we would benefit from and free to attend all kinda of open forums. My manager has also been a big part of my development and has guided and pushed me to do things that will benefit me.

The internship is an interview for them to see if they like you and for you to see if you like them. If you perform well in the internship then prospects of employment are good.
The Culture
Large intern community meant that there was lots of social events. There was a social committee similar to what most uni's have which I was a part of that organised Sport and social events.
Pretty reasonable living costs.
There were plenty of oppurtunities to get involved in charity sport and social events either with the interns or with your team or just with the intel wide social club.
