The Role
The internship was an exhausting but thoroughly enjoyable eight-weeks.
I was made to feel immediately welcome.
My Line Manager and Programme Manager were both hugely supportive. Guidance was not forced upon me but I knew it was there if I needed it.
I had a rather substantial workload but this was partly by own doing by choosing not to delegate certain tasks (something I would do differently in hindsight). I found that the workload of interns varied greatly depending on the team in which they were placed.
I was given a huge amount of autonomy and responsibility from the outset. This was a real bonus of the internship.
Although I certainly built my functional skill set, I also felt that I greatly enhanced soft skills such as networking.
The Company
It was an incredibly relaxed and laid-back environment to work in. However, this will depend on which floor you are placed.
There were lots of great opportunities open to interns, such as significant exposure to senior management. However, some IT/admin issues could be improved.
We received training from day one. Barclays clearly see investment in their interns as being of utmost importance.

Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Following the internship, I was offered a place on the graduate scheme.
The Culture
The interns got on with each other incredibly well.
It completely depends where you go. Obviously London is an expensive place full stop!
There were lots of nice bars and restaurants but we tended to head out in other areas of London that were a little less expensive.
There were lots of additional activities to take part in. Equally, there was scope to organise activities which weren't already put on.
