The Role
Really well thought out internship.
Based in a high performance team, the work I contributed on was both valuable and useful.
Support was available if required. However, it was largely a case of being thrown in at the deep end, which is no bad thing.
Undoubtedly I was one of the busier interns, however I think this largely depended on what stream you applied for, and what specific team you were primarily based in. The 'Finance' stream seemed to be one of the busier functions.
Being thrown in at the deep end definitely gives you the opportunity to 'own' your work. The work I was doing was used by the team. Being given real responsibility proved a great opportunity to demonstrate potential.
Most skills are transferable in some degree, however the main skills I took away were significant improvements in Microsoft Office (Excel!) and networking abilities.
The Company
My department was a very high performance and fast paced team, which meant there was, for the most part, there was always something to be getting on with. Given how busy the team was, I found most people to be very approachable and helpful.
A good balance of work within your specific team but also plenty of opportunities to get involved with both other interns and graduates. The 'induction' week at the beginning of the internship was great fun!
I didn't feel that there was a large amount of focus on specific training, much of the learning was 'on the job'. But the reality is that this is what most people would expect from an internship. There were constant 'catch ups' with a personal programme manager, which were useful to reflect on what has been learnt.

The expectation is that you use the internship as an opportunity to demonstrate your potential, and earn yourself a place on the graduate scheme.
The Culture
A great social scene amongst the group. We pretty much met daily for lunch, and had a night out in London at least once a week. There were also other opportunities such as football matches.
London is undoubtedly expensive... But I think that is common knowledge!?
It's London! Plenty of places.
There were... but my work like balance was quite intense for the internship period, so I only got involved where other interns were also getting involved.
