The Role
Really enjoyed my time at Mott MacDonald! Had the opportunity to work in the tunnels division on a very interesting project which enabled me to learn a lot.
Felt very valued by most colleagues, but didn't have the opportunity to meet as many people as I had hoped. However overall, I always felt very welcome!
Received lots of support from my supervisor who was able to answer questions at any time, but didn't receive much input from management.
Was busy almost everyday throughout the placement and was rarely bored.
Was responsible for carrying out tasks individually and as a team with varying responsibility. Held more responsibility during the week when my supervisor was on holiday.
The experience allowed me to develop key skills such as written and verbal communication which I have been able to apply to my degree.
The Company
Everyone was friendly and often went out for lunch with colleagues.
Placement was organised well, but some tasks felt like an afterthought.
Received lots of online training including site safety and awareness etc.
Very encouraging in wanting placement employees to apply for future industrial placements and graduate positions.
The Culture
Throughout my placement there was one other placement student and several work experience colleagues, but they were scattered around the office and I never really had the chance to speak to them.
Long commute meant that I had little time to attend most activities outside work
