The Role
INCREDIBLE!
As soon as I arrived at Unilever it was very clear I was a valued member of the team, I had a clear work plan, all the tasks were meaningful and assisted in ensuring success for the wider team. Unilever have a really effective system whereupon you have both a line manager and a buddy so any concerns you have theres someone there for you. Although this system ensures someone is there to welcome you into the team and make you feel valued every member of the team contributed towards ensuring I felt a valued colleague no matter how busy people were they would always find time to help or guide you on something you were struggling or unsure with.
There was no expense spared with support and guidance. I was regularly given internal and external training to ensure I fulfilled my potential and was as efficient for the team as i possibly could be.
I was extremely busy, however given the culture of Unilever this is by no means a bad thing, as you are fullfilled with passion for the brands you work on and therefore proud to be helping develop the brand further and drive success.
Unilever provide you with opportunities to manage your own projects/campaigns which at first seemed very daunting but after all the training and support it allows you to feel very proud of your work and develop so many transferable skills. One of there Standards of leadership is accountability and responsibility so they are constantly looking to give you more oppurtunities to be responsible for projects, this attitude adds so much value to the internship as you are in no way treated as an intern but a permenant member of the team.
A cannot describe how much this placement has helped me with my degree studies, I've had training from industry leaders and been allowed to apply my academic knowledge previously developed in my degree into practice, which has given me a much deeper understanding of marketing.
