The Role
Throughout the internship, there were development events which multiple interns attended. These were engaging and entertaining! Also, I took part in shadowing various members of PwC so got to see multiple view points.
Work I carried out was live client work. So when I finished something and handed it over, it was one less thing for them to do. So I felt like I was helping and not just sitting there bugging people. Also, your encouraged to let people know when your free to take on new work. Also, everyone was very engaging. Even people from other departments would want to know if you were okay and asked how you were finding the internship!
The amount of support was amazing. I had a buddy who helped me through the internship with any issues I had (this could be anything from eating or arranging shadowing). Then there was a people manager who oversaw my progress in the internship and supported me in the feedback process. As mentioned before, there were multiple development days to help further our experience.
When I did the internship, it was the quite period (the internship was Aug/Sep). So some days, there wasn't that much work for me to be doing. Having said this there was always something else for me to be doing. The main option was called the dragons den project. This was a competition involving the BBC where we were tasked with coming up with an idea on how to connect with the younger generation. 7 ideas were selected to be presented a BBC/PwC panel. When doing actual work, the jobs I had lasted between one and three days. So there was a good balance of work.
Throughout the internship, I was exposed to senior members of the firm and went with a director on to a client site. This to me is a very high amount of responsibility. Also, the work I carried out was on real client data.
As I was in the data assurance department and currently do a computer related degree, the skills will be very well implemented. I have already seen modules/opportunities to use them in my final year of university. Finally, as I was made an offer at the end of my internship (which has been accepted) the skills will be put to use fully again!
The Company
The atmosphere was very friendly. Everyone seemed to get on. In various places there were booths to go and have a quick chat in or an informal meeting.
Everything we needed to know was told to us. I was handed a weekly plan of what would be going on for me personally. Also, all events were scheduled in our work calender.
Right from the start of the internship, PwC invested heavily in our development. The first 3 days of the internship was spent in a hotel doing initial training while getting to know other interns and meet some partners. More training opportunities specific to Data Assurance were given to me.

The Culture
You got to know people from offices all over the country. However, the main focus was in your office. We all got on and arranged to do the odd thing together.
The area was Birmingham which isn't to expensive. The surrounding areas are very reasonable. I personally stayed at home so only had to pay for travelling which wasn't much at all!
I didn't use the nightlife in the are of work so can't comment.
Throughout the office there was notices about events to take part in. Many people also emailed things out to you.
