The Role
you have good days and bad. the best thing about placement is it gives you a good idea of what you want to do when youre older - office based work, field based work etc
always being asked my opinion never patronised
genereally you were left to get on with things yourself, but help from my manager was always a phone call away. most of the time though i just popped over to a colleagues desk if i had a question
in my job you need to be proactive so you should never have no work to do.
i have my own sales territory which i am responisible for. however this did take me 6 months to earn so you have to put in the hard work before you get the rewards
communication, relationship and time management skills i will take with me but many of the skills i learnt were very much related to the market i worked in so i am unlikely to need them unless i go back to work in that market
The Company
everyone was always up for a laugh, very much a work hard play hard atmosphere
there was a placement co ordinator that you could go to if you ever had any problems. always had work available to me which made me felt useful
if i put my name forward for training i would always be allowed to get involved. it was never a case of im 'just' a placement student - got treated like a real employee
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Company Car
Subsidised/Company Gym

Working from home
hopefully ive done enough to secure a grad job which would be brilliant, but i'l have to wait and see
The Culture
some people i got on really well with, others not so much. most people were up for a night out though which was good
i lived with my parents which helped with bills etc
im at bournemouth uni where the nightlife is brilliant. reading isn't quite so good in comparison
depends how much effort you want to put in. i played basketball, squash, badminton and rugby during my time at work and also did things like tai chi at my local gym
