The Role
Not necessarily negative or fully positive, but it was an eye opener to what life is like within an engineering firm.
I was treated as an "intern" not fully as an employee.
I worked remotely, my manager and supervisors were strangely based in another country unlike other interns, but that developed my self management. (Always look to draw out the positives)
This internship like I mentioned earlier was really an eye-opener as to what it is like working in the industry. You had busy moments and then all of a sudden everything is very quiet and not much to do.
I was assigned the job other people did not want to do. So I had something to do but not just the most demanding thing.
It did not really have a direct impact to my degree studies, but it definitely gave me some skills for life such as self-management, planning and organisation, team work skills, communications skills and much more. It also made me to understand myself more and know what sort of environment I will like to work in, in the near future.
The Company
It was average to be honest. Not much fun (we there for work) and not too dull.
It was not very organised as I had no supervisor or manager on ground to assist or make duties clear.
There were lots of information online and trainings one could take part in.
Subsidised/Company Gym
If you like a slow pace environment, then its definitely a good place. I prefer a very fast paced pressured environment hence why I'm diverting towards investment banking. Also if you like long term outputs in terms of your input (basically if you do not mind waiting for couple of months before seeing the results of your inputs to a particular work, then its a perfect place. Again I love seeing immediate results, so hence it was not for me)
The Culture
Everyone stuck to their divisions.
Transportation was very poor in the area, so had to spend a lot on taxis.
No night life.
Nothing much for interns. Had to be on a longer placement for such.
