The Role
I could not have been happier with my placement year. I really enjoyed working within GE and would highly recommend a doing a placement year during your studies
Within the business I worked you will receive high levels of exposure and responsibility. You will be given workloads and expected to seek out additional projects outside of your daily responsibilities.
Help was always there if you asked for it and if you didn't ask your question to the right person usually someone would point you in the direction. this helped develop networking skills which become really important.
My role was very reactive, depending upon how much work was passing through the site determined if It was busier or not. There was always additional projects or learning that could be done.
The more you stepped up to the plate the more responsibility you were given.
Having finished my placement year I now feel really confident that my skills and experience out weigh that of someone who hasn't experienced the exposure to a large organisation.
The Company
its a very professional working environment.
GE offered a fantastic internship program that involves group exercises, work outs and events. All your goals and objectives are monitored and reviewed on a quarterly basis to enhance your personal development.
The intern's are treated as equals, if a training course is required for your role they will invest in you.
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
Healthcare from home
Having done a placement does not guarantee you a future job, however it will increase your chances if you networked correctly and impress management.
