The Role
Enjoyed working in a friendly environment
Everyone was very friendly and didn't hesitate to help me if I asked
we had a mid term review and weekly meetings to discuss my progress
The desk was quite illiquid but I had long term projects that I could get on with in the quiet periods
I was encouraged to submit analysis to my manager and worked on important confidential legal documents from one of the funds.
We were given Bloomberg training which is definitely something that I use later on in my career and one of the Fund Manager Assistants even gave me his CFA books when he passed!
The Company
The HR were very helpful and all the events they organised ran smoothly
As said, we were given Bloomberg training and were allowed time off from the desk in order to go to any of the lectures that M&G had put on.
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
The Culture
There weren't too many interns so we bonded well as a group and went for drinks most Fridays. I lunched well with my team and was shown some amazing restaurants!
Obviously expensive as it is in the city of London, however we did manage to find some places with good deals on cocktails or happy hours.
It was good but we would invariably end up heading back to central London as it was cheaper than the city to go out.
There were softball, netball and mixed hockey teams which we were encouraged to join and some of the interns were lucky enough to join their teams on days out put on by other firms
