The Role
I enjoyed the job due to the people I worked with and the help I received from my Business Development Manager. We Brand It has a nice and friendly environment to work in.
I felt very valued by my Business Development Manager but not by anyone else in the company. There were stressful times throughout the year where I had to work very hard and I felt that this was overlooked by most of the full time staff including Karim the MD.
My supervisor was amazing and I knew that if I needed help I could speak to my BDM.
As you can expect with sales how busy I was would change from month to month but most of the time I felt that the level of work required from me was steady and kept me challenged through most of the day.
My BDM gave me a lot of responsibility with clients and orders. I believe that when I was left in charge due to a holiday I was trusted to complete everything to a good condition.
I believe I gained skills which would help me after my degree in future jobs. However I do not feel this placement particularly helped me with my degree. My role kept me in the sales department and didn't show to much of how the business was ran. I felt that there were no encouragement from management for us to work any harder and I saw no management techniques being used throughout the year.
The Company
There were stressful times in the office which were generally at the end of the month when people were fighting to make sure they hit their sales target. although most of the time I enjoyed the atmosphere in the office and had a great time with the people I worked with.
Not very well. At the start of the year it felt more organised as we received a full two weeks of training with the MD. Although once the year started it became obvious that the MD had more important things to be dealing with than our placement needs. I feel that someone else within the company who has more time to sit down and do reviews should take over running the placement year.
I wouldn't say a lot of effort is put into training and developing the interns but I didn't see this happen to the full time employees either.
Company Parties/Events
There isn't much of a step ladder to climb at We Brand It and I like to have new challenges and targets to aim for.
The Culture
I had a great time with all of the placement students. This is a massive plus at We Brand It, because of the large number of placement students you are always planning your next group activity.
While working down south so close to London prices will increase, however I found that Maidenhead wasn't too expensive and we were able to socialise every week.
Maidenhead is close enough to; London, Reading and Windsor, my favourite night out was Windsor but if you didn't enjoy it there you could easily try Reading instead next time.
There are loads of activities you can do outside of work. With easy access to London you can be busy doing something new each weekend.
