About You
The internship was great, it was social but it also showed me what the job involved.
My team treated me as a Deloitte graduate so it helped me see how I would be treated within the company when I start working there.
Everyone was helpful in explaining my tasks and I was encouraged to ask for help. They took extra time to show me what my work contributed to on a greater scale rather than just telling me about my task. It helped me understand why I was doing the work I was set.
It helped me secure a place on their graduate scheme.
The Company
HR staff is so helpful. We had an induction to introduce us to the company and we also had interview prep during our internship to help us prepare for the final interview.
All team members no matter what position they help were friendly and made me feel comfortable straight away.
Everyone took the time to teach you new things even if it would take them less time to do it themselves.
I understood the different responsibilities of different levels of staff as teams were mixed.
We even got to attend a department meeting which explained how Indirect Tax had performed in the last year. Informally we found out about what it is like to work there through coffee with our buddies.
I am taking up a graduate role.
Everything Else
I was well paid.
There were always drinks after work and colleagues invited you so you got to meet people from different departments even if you didn't work with them.
Social events were organised at the start and end of the internship to help us meet other students on the internship.
Informally from other workers but it was not advertised anywhere.
Yes, I had no idea what a tax adviser's job involved but know I have a better understanding of how much legal work is done and how much legal knowledge is required. IT's not just compliance work, there is a lot more consulting work.
