The Role
Had an amazing year and really enjoyed the role and company.
Worked with an amazing team- Incredibly supportive, and helpful whenever you needed them.
Had support from not only my manager, but also a career manager during my year.
My role had fluctuations of busyness due to the what stage of work we were at and how many projects were announced.
Given a lot of responsibility due to being a very mobile workforce so could be in an office without my team quite a lot. They counted on me to do my own work and be proactive in searching for more to do.
Great skills workshops provided and lots of online learning. Learnt a lot of transferable skills which will help graduate role search.
The Company
In an office with a lot of other placement students, so great for socialising, but during end of quarters, office environment was very serious.
A separate team at IBM run these schemes, and they are generally good, some improvements could be made.
Lots of training available, and workshops during the year.
Subsidised Canteen
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Working from home
You have the chance to apply to the Graduate scheme, in advance of them opening up to the rest of the candidates who haven't done a placement with them.
The Culture
Lots of placement students in the office, so plenty of people to meet and socialise with!
Housing is reasonable as long as you share with other placement students, but nights out can be expensive if you go to Central London all the time.
Only a few places near the Bedfont Lakes office, but can travel to Central London quite easily.
There is a ski club which organises a trip, and the IBM clubs which give you the opportunity to buy cheaper tickets to events throughout the UK.
