    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Overall it was an enjoyable experience.. Everybody I met during the placement was very friendly and eager to help. The work itself could have been a bit more interesting, though, but then again I was only an intern and so there was only so much I could do!

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • All of my colleagues were very friendly and tried to make me feel included. The best part of the internship for me was the fact that most of the members of my team were very friendly.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My supervisors were very supportive when there were things I was unsure about or if I ever had questions. People always seemed happy to help, even if they did have a lot of work on (which they normally did).

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • For the most part of the internship, I was extremely busy, and often had to decline work because I already had too much on. However, this wasn't the case every single day, as there were some days where there wasn't much to do. But overall I was kept very busy.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • There was not a huge amount of responsibility I was given, but there were a couple of projects where I was. There were also times where I had to call other colleagues for information.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I am aiming for a graduate job in a different Division, and so much of what I learnt will not be incredibly useful going further into the future. However, there are some skills I did learn that will be beneficial, such as how to write formal letters.

    2/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • People tended to be friendly. However, with everyone having a lot of work on there wasn't much time to talk to everyone.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The whole internship was organised pretty well, starting from the beginning with a week of various training and ice-breakers. We were always kept informed of important dates.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • At the beginning of the internship, each intern undertook 3 days of training which was relevant to their division.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 2/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The firm as a whole seems like a great place to work. They do pay a lot of attention to each individual, and everyone always seems willing to help.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • During my placement, there wasn't much socialising with the other interns.

    2/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • My placement was in Birmingham, where costs tend to be reasonable.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • During my placement, I did not make use of the nightlife. However, as I live in Birmingham, I do know that the nightlife can be good!

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • During my placement, there was not really anything I was able to partake in outside of work.

    1/5
