The Role
Good social life and camaraderie, the work was interesting and provided a steep enough learning curve
To the extent where I was kept on for two extra weeks to help finish off the project, good-bye card, leaving party, the lot.
In this industry you need to be able to find things out for yourself, no one wants to have to micro-manage you. However saying that support and guidance was there if necessary.
First 2 weeks started off slow, then the work piled up and was very busy. It was my whole project though, so it wasn't just me, which made it less overwhelming.
Had to earn responsibility, started off with very menial tasks such as photocopying. Then as time passed I was responsible for key sections of the deliverable. If you're willing to take it on and you produce good work people are happy to give you responsibility.
The technical skills may not be useful, however the interpersonal and general consulting skills will be
The Company
Although it is a professional services firm, the atmosphere is jovial. People seemed genuinely happy there and people were willing to offer all sorts of career/personal advice.
Although you were assigned to a project, sometimes the work doesn't get delegated and it's up to you to network and keep yourself busy.
One week induction, lots of training and informative talks.
Subsidised Canteen
Have been offered a job in the department I interned in.
The Culture
If you wanted to, you could have gone out with the interns each night. Although I ended up staying later than most and didn't get a chance to partake to the same extent as others.
Central London
Again, if you're willing to pay London prices, the world is your oyster.
