The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my summer internship within the OLE section of Mott MacDonald.
Having completed previous summer interships, Mott MacDonald was easily the most welcoming of them all.
Guidance by the management/team leader was very good. The tasks I was given were always given by clear instructions and I always felt that if I had any questions I could ask them any time and be given a comprehensive answer back.
I carried out a number of engineering tasks on a daily basis and was always kept busy without the need of having a pile of work to get through on my desk. I was allocated two to three tasks a day and if completed I would simply ask for more.
I believe that the skills I have developed and the training I received will be of great benefit whilst completing my Masters year at University. Managing and prioritising tasks/projects is a highly useful skill that can be demonstrated in any industry or place of work.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was very professional however was also filled with laughter and conversation.
I believe the summer internship was very well organised although the recruitment side required more contact once I had applied online. Once I was contacted (after 6 months since applying), I was then kept well informed of the process and the organisation of arranging interviews/start dates was exceptional.
Future employment prospects seem hopeful at this moment in time. I guess I will just have to see how things fall into place within the next few months.
The Culture
I commuted everyday so did not experience the living and socialising costs within the area.
Unfortunately I did not experience any of the nightlife due to having to drive home everyday.
