The Role
I really valued my experience at M&G as I was exposed to such a broad range of the business which gave me a great overall understanding of what they do. I always had work to do, and when I wasn't busy, I was able to ask for more work or do online training; so I was always developing myself.
I genuinely felt like the work I did was contributing to the success of the company. I was given tasks that were valuable and had to be done, and would actually be used by the teams I was working in.
My line manager was always supportive and made sure that the team knew I was available to help out with any work they needed doing. We didn't have regular meetings however we were always in close contact and when I felt I needed a catch up or some guidance, it was always available and my line manager was more than helpful in giving me feedback.
There was always something to be doing. Sometimes I felt I was not given enough work to do, but it was okay because in these situations, I was able to ask around for extra work to complete, or go online and do some training, or reading about the business.
I was given quite a lot of responsibility, and felt that the work I was doing was genuinely helpful to the teams I was working on.
The interning experience at M&G was invaluable in assisting my in gaining a graduate career and developing my attitude in my degree studies. Gaining real world experience is the best thing you can do to discover what career path you want to go down, and seeing what it is like living in the real world, after university.
The Company
Very pleasant - people were very friendly and open. I always felt I could talk to people and ask questions, even if they were not on my team.
The internship was well organised, with a formal assessment procedure to gain the position. During the internship I always knew what team I was working with, and knew where I was supposed to be and when.
We had two days of training at the start of the internship which was really valuable, as it gave us all a general grounding as to what asset management is all about, and brought us all to the same level which we needed to be on to start the internship.

The Culture
There were opportunities to get involved with a few sports teams, and my colleagues were generally keen to socialise outside of work
