The Role
Right amount of work, supported when I needed help, made to feel welcome in the team. Felt like my work was making a difference and was at the right level for me. Very well organised.
Felt like as much of a part of the team as anyone else.
Always there when I needed help, and generally always steered me in the right direction.
Always had something to be getting on with, but never felt overloaded. Manager happy to suggest something to do if I finished a task before being able to start the next one.
What I was working on was a key tool - I was trusted to ensure it kept running as expected.
Learned real-world programming skills and generally how to fit in in a tech company
The Company
Everyone works hard, but the atmosphere benefits from it. Very supportive and positive. No-one is ever 'on your back' or trying to one-up you.
Generally very well organised, and HR team is very good at helping if you have any issues.
On your arrival you are given a tailor-made personal development plan for your internship, which evolves as time goes by. The company is incredibly keen on developing its employees. Training is generally on-the-job with a manager/mentor to support you if you have issues.

Would love to work here as a permanent employee - the atmosphere and ethos of the company make it a fantastic place to work.
The Culture
Interns regularly organised events and gatherings, along with always sitting together at lunch. Felt part of the group v quickly. Also living in a company house automatically gives you a group of friends to hang out with.
Housing is organised and subsidised by the company for the interns, and is incredibly cheap (especially for the area). Houses are generally within walking distance so there are no travel costs. Plenty of local shops, supermarkets, restaurants, pubs...no more or less expensive than they would be anywhere else really. Company often has a tab at a local pub for joiners/leavers so that helps bring the social cost down a bit.
Plenty of pubs locally, not so much for a 'night out', but then central London is very easy to get into if that is your thing...it isn't really my thing so can't comment much.
Lunchtime and after-work sporting clubs, as well as others. Company often arranges morale events also, as well as the aforementioned pub tabs.
