The Role
Sometimes the job was a little repetitive but the location and colleagues I worked with were brilliant. Wanting to come back as a graduate.
Wasn't treated as a student but a member of the team. Got any education I needed and could quite happily go and ask more experienced colleagues for help if needed.
Any support or guidance that I needed I was given. Was asked if needed any but majority of the time wasn't needed.
Depending on the day and time of year. Close to a product release, very very busy. Middle of development, not so much.
More and more responsibility as I went through the year and had more knowledge. Was always challenged.
Beyond my degree, loads. Towards my degree, very little. Programming techniques were improved, but IBM don't make games! ;)
The Company
Very relaxed, informative between team members but formal with managerial positions. Everyone would talk to each other. Very little tension unless stressed with work!
Everything was planned from start to finish.
Not much, helped me with anything I wanted but didn't go too into the extra mile zone.
Flexi Time
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Working from home
On Fast Track process. Hope to pass(!)
The Culture
Given we are Software Engineers the social scene is a little less than most others but we went out and had fun every few weekends. We would also go to the pub at lunchtimes if the weather was nice or if it was someones birthday.
Cost of living was high because of the area (that I am used to anyway). Southampton only down the road for a night out.
Location of work. None. Down the road, plenty.
Quite a few, Wii games, football, cricket (in the summer...), tennis. All with work colleagues.
