The Role
I really enjoyed my internship. Some parts were very difficult but I always had support and always felt like I could ask questions.
As soon as I arrived at Cognito, I felt included. I met people who I would now consider my best friends.
I could always ask questions, never lacked for things to do and was asked my opinion frequently.
Thrown in the deep end which was sometimes stressful but never lacked for things to do.
I was given responsibility on some quite large projects. Most of the time I felt less like an IP than an actual, valued member of staff.
I learnt so much that it can't even fit into this little box. I not only learnt lots and lots of coding skills which will help in my degree, but a lot about business and technology as a whole, as well as personal skills.
The Company
We had lots of fun times in the office - we all went for burgers every Friday lunchtime and would always have a good laugh through the week too.
Really well set up at the onset, Cognito sorted out a hotel and taxi for my interview and overall it was well organised. There were occasional times when I wasn't sure what to do or where to go.
There wasn't much formal training, however there was lots of one-on-one training, I found the partner-programming with the former IPs very helpful.
Company Parties/Events
Healthcare from home
I have been given a provisional offer and hopefully this will work out!
The Culture
I made lots of friends with my colleagues and often went to the cinema, pub, curry houses and meals with them.
Newbury is quite expensive, Reading is a little bit cheaper. Rent was very expensive compared to student housing.
In Newbury there isn't much in the way of nightlife! Some good pubs but if you want to go clubbing you're better off in Reading.
We often went out for lunch and for people's leaving dos we went for curry and drinks. I also did lots of activities with my new colleagues such as games nights, cinema, meals and clubbing.
