The Role
Incredibly well structured and organised placement team, and personally worked with a very accommodating and helpful team.
Became part of the team in a matter of works, being given real responsibilities on current projects and managing my own projects.
Everyone on the team was always willing to lend a hand and provide their insight into any projects I was working on or may have been struggling with.
It's really up to you how busy you are at Microsoft. If you're happy doing your standard role you may find yourself with spare time, but if you want to go the extra mile and take on more projects, everyone is more than happy to support you on these.
I helped manage a number of projects going on throughout the year, including the Gadget Show Live, and was able to take on my own projects too.
My confidence has grown dramatically since working at Microsoft, and the process of always meeting new people and networking has put me in a really great place for finishing my degree and the world of work beyond.
The Company
It's a very chilled out culture in the office, with teams sitting together and plenty of conversation flowing.
The placement team were incredible, and provided an incredibly well organised placement year.
My team invested a great deal in me, always making time to talk with me if I was struggling, and my manager set up plenty of meetings with people around the organisation to get a better understanding of the company and where I'd like to come back to.

I'm applying for the MACH scheme post university, and would recommend anyone to apply to both the placement and Grad schemes.
The Culture
With over 100 interns between London and Reading, the social scene was great, with weekly nights out and company bar crawls organised every few months with surrounding company interns.
Reading was around £350 per month for rent, with cheap buses to the centre of town and a free bus service to TVP (Microsoft's Reading office).
Reading has a pretty good nightlife, being a student town.
Being a studenty town, Reading has plenty of things to get involved in outside of work.
