The Role
I was given a lot of responsibility and often trusted as a spokesperson for a particular product at events. I was given some fantastic opportunities and really enjoyed it.
I am quite shy in the workforce so found it hard to chat to everyone in my team at first. They were all lovely and very supportive though. By the end of the year I felt I knew them more, but if more effort had been made on my part we could have been closer.
My manager was extremely busy with him having to do two people's jobs at one point, so he didn't always have time to mentor me, but we did have regular 1:1s and he was very supportive with everything I wanted to do - and always there if I needed help.
At first, while I was learning about the products I wasn't very busy, but this soon picked up as I picked up projects and I had a steady work flow from then on.
I was given a lot of responsibility and my manager always encouraged me to take on big challenges. This really increased my confidence and made me proud to work at Microsoft.
I've have learnt endless invaluable lessons whilst working at Microsoft that will translate when I go back to uni, to my career and also in my everyday life.
The Company
Sometimes it was quiet when people were very busy but there was usually something going on, and everyone was very chatty and sociable which was nice.
I had set commitments I had to meet but was also given great flexibility in how to achieve these, and the opportunity to take on extra projects of my choice.
From the MCAS exams to advice from people throughout the business, there were always opportunities to learn new skills and develop.

If I wanted to return I'm sure there would be opportunities for me, but I could have made more of an effort this year to secure that.
The Culture
The cost of living was expensive compared to my home town (Coventry), but if you went out on the right night you could get good deals on drinks etc.
