The Role
A great experience and a great placement. The atmosphere at Microsoft is fantastic and as an Intern you are given great responsibilty and freedom to handle your individual work.
The team I was in was great. My manager gave me freedom to do work outside my role and we always had a good laugh!
As my manager has had an intern every year for 4+ years, he is experienced and handling and guiding. I was given a lot of guidance, particularly at the start, and had time to settle myself into the company
I was relatively busy, however it was largely up to me to seek extra work/speak up if I wanted something more to do
A great deal of responsibilty was given to myself. I was in charge of handling certain internal and external events and had the responsibility of logistics throughout. If an event went well, it was down to me; however if an event went badly, it was also down to me!
A great deal of training and support is given to one at Microsoft. There are many opportunities to learn and many willing people to learn from too.
The Company
I was lucky to have a great team and great teams around us too. It was particularly good to have a fellow intern just a few desks down
The organisation, generally, was very good. In such a big company at Microsoft, organisation of the placement was seamless at times and one was always in contact.
Again, there are many learning opportunities and training to be completed if you so wish. Whether it be completing MCAS Office exams or travelling to USA with your team, opportunities are always present!

The opportunitiy to work at Microsoft again would be a great prospect. The atmopshere, culture and work ethics are great,
The Culture
With 70+ interns there is always something going on. Whether it be paintballing, christmas party or general night out the social scene was the highlight of the year along with the job.
As Reading is relatively near London, cost of living is quite high and student nights are not as large as other cities. Furthermore, having to go out at the weekend increased costs.
Nightlife is relatively good, however coming from Aston Uni (Birmingham) it doesn't quite match up!
Always loads of opportunities. Microsoft offer a great deal of sport/social clubs. I played for the football team and the social side of that was a particular highlight. Being able to travel to Milan for a tournament was great too!!
