The Role
There were times when it was hard work and I seemed to work longer hours then many of the other placement students but otherwise worth it.
I was told frequently that I was key to keeping projects moving.
My team made me apart of everything they did, getting me involved whenever they could. They gave me more responsibility as time went on, giving me my own projects which made me feel valued and a real part of the team.
As time went on my team gave me more and more responsiblity and especially my role was a very busy one. There was always something to do. If some days were quieter than others my managers would always ensure I was kept busy.
I felt the more I was trusted and valued within my team the more responsibility I was given. Near the end I was given some of my very own projects, in which I learnt some valuable skills and gained some good experience.
I learnt alot about the powertools industry and the day to day operations of a business enviroment. I think I learnt valuable computer skills which will be essential in a future career.
The Company
Absolutely loved my office. Everyone was so welcoming and really good fun, made some really good friends. Often had fancy dress days and team nights out.
I find this difficult to judge as at the time that I obtained my placement there were a lot of business changes which meant things were held up, however from what I've seen this year the process is so much more seamless and well organised.
I was sent on exactly the same training courses as any consultants that joined the business, which I was really surprised about, and really appreciated. I was also included in any top up training throughout my placement.
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
Healthcare from home
Returning to 3M appeals to me as I really enjoyed my time there.
The Culture
There was a very good social scene, helped by the number of events organised 3M
Cost of living hideous as is the cost of going out around the City/central London. The generous salary make up for this somewhat, but does mean you dont save a lot from the 10 weeks of work.
Loads of places to go and heaving with young people
In the summer there is plenty going on in the parks, especially on weekends, which should be taken advantage of.
