The Role
Disney interactive studios in London is a great organisation! Wonderful people, great experience!
everyone was warm and welcoming during and after. We had a drink after work many times too
My supervisor was great, he mentored us during the first month and helped out/explained stuff every time we struggled with something
It was a busy environment, but it was all well planed and allowed for enough time to accommodate any surprises
I was given with a lot of responsibility. Put in charge of working on greenlight meeting presentation slides to pitch new products, in publisher feedback on milestone builds and many other things. But everything we did was reviewed by our placement supervisor and he guided us with valuable feedback.
I believe that I gained many transferable skills and also a better understanding of how game insdustry and development works.
The Company
There were a few quiet moments, there were a lot of busy moments. Our mentor had us covered during the quiet ones- helping us get better at what we do and preparing us for the busy times.
Disney is very good at that part. The HR department aided me with all the paperwork, they made sure I am comfortable living in london. The work placement had no issues
The company has a great set of courses for new employees. They didnt throw me into the fire right away. I was put through some introductory courses. Our mentor was always very helpful as well!
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Unfortunatelly i haven't gotten a job after the placement was over,, but I haven't applied (yet) to begin with
The Culture
There were some after work parties and occasions at which we could break the ice. In the end the team on our floor felt like one big family!
London is not a cheap place to live in. But the payment from the company was enough to cover my expenses and I even managed to save up some money for university
i was invited to many afterwork parties. On a number of occasions with free drinks for all employees and free food
