The Role
The experience you get withing Microsoft is unbelievable, its been the best year of my life, with endless opportunities.
As I work within EMEA, and my team is mainly located outside the UK. It's been harder to create a strong relationship over the phone, but when we meet I feel part of the team.
Whever I needed help/support/guidance my manager was always there to make time and go over any problems/issues I had and to find the best ways to resolve/help.
Wasn't given as much work from my team as I wanted. However it has given me chance to see much more of the business, and work with a lot more people.
My manager trusted me with the work she set and sometimes, I was given work to do for the worldwide leads who are very high up in the business.
The skills I have learnt both personally and professionally have set the foundation of my career ahead!
The Company
With a lot of my team abroad, my office is generally very empty and can get very boring spending days alone or with a one or two people. I was given freedom to work where I like though so working from home and hot desking in other offices was fun.
Very smooth process and can't fault it.
They see us as the future and everyone wants you to do well and invest a lot of time and effort to give you the best possible start in life.

I would love to return to Microsoft at some point during my career.
The Culture
I couldn't have asked for better people to be on a placement with, i have met some great friends and we've organised many events together and parties. The sheer number of interns Microsoft takes on means you will always find some great friends.
Providing you don't go mad, you can easily live comfortably over the internship. I have found it no problem.
Reading's got an OK nightlife, being a town the scene isn't as big as nottingham which is where I go to uni. But the nightlife is as good as you make it, generally doesn't matter where you are.
On occasions there's chance to go to agencies that partner with Microsoft. From what I have heard its a great experience. Also I have had the chance to take part in the UK Challenge in June.
