The Role
It was a truly unforgettable experience that has enriched my life. What better place to start my professional career than right on top!
You are part of the family as you are all one team working towards a common goal.
Regular catch ups with my managers-at least weekely. I always felt like I could approach then and discuss any concerns/ideas I may ahve had.
Part of the beauty of being at Microsoft was to be able to stretch yourself and go beyond what you thought you could handle. I was busy throughout my placement but I wouldn't have it any other way. I beleieve I would have been bored otherwise and despite the exhaustion at time it was all worth it.
I had rojects that were my own to manage. Being trusted by your manager to take control is brilliant. Your confidence soars.
These are true life skills that will serve you for life. University may teach you the therories behind the facts but at Microsoft you dealt/lived and breathed the real world and could put into practise everything I read about at University.
The Company
It is a very relaxed yet professional environment. Jeans are acceptable if you do not have important meetings and you were free to be yourself.
Its overall structure is brilliant!
There were a lot of opportunities to learn outside your role, MCAS exams for free, the libarary's facilities, tech training if you chose to sign up for it and a lot of on the job learning.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Healthcare from home
I would definitely consider working for MIcrosoft again. It is a brilliant culture and environment.
The Culture
The intern community was like being at university but having the luxury of being professional about it also. It was friendly and you have the chance to meet like minded people with similar aspirations.
The working hours got you quite tired to be able to go out at night especially since I chose to commute.
Good although I don't have much first hand experience.
Endless, depending on how outgoing and sociable you were.
