The Role
I really enjoyed my placement year and couldn't recommend it highly enough! My team were fantastic, as were all the people around me and it was a really fun environment to work in for the year.
My team were really lovely and never treated me as just 'the itern'. Right from day one I was given responsibility and was treated like a real valued member of the team I was working within.
I was always encouraged by my supervisors to try new things and to get involved as much as I could, even if that meant spending time working with other departments to gain an insight into that how they worked. If I had any problems, my Managers were more than happy to listen and help me out in any way they could.
I was always busy and had work to be getting on with and there were times throughout the year e.g. coming up to a film release, when there would be lots of work but it was never unmanageable. My managers always checked whether my workload was okay for me and never gave me too much to handle.
I was given a lot of responsibility right from day one. I was worried that I would just be seen as 'the intern' and treated less equal to everyone else in my team, however my team were very welcoming and I never felt inferior to them in any way at all as we all had equal amounts of work to be getting on with.
Due to all the experiences I have had during my year here and the work I have carried out, I have now come to the conclusion that marketing is the area in which I hope to go into after graduating. The skills I have developed and training I was given will hopefully prove invaluable in my future job applications and have given me the opportunity to talk about real life examples of film campaigns I have helped with for when it comes to future job interviews.
The Company
The experience was very laid back and friendly and a great work environment to be in!
I had a clear team structure so right from day one I knew who my Managers were and who to go to if I had any problems at all.
I was actively encouraged during my time at Disney to get involved as much as I could and so have experienced working life within other departments within the company, as well as my own. I was also given the opportunity to sit in on specific meetings to learn about new processes so everyday I seemed to learn something new!

Unfortunately Disney don't offer graduate jobs as they have a strong emphasis on hiring interns on their placement year. This said, I will keep in contact with my Managers and see what happens!
The Culture
There were over 100 interns in the Disney building that I was working on and so it made for a very fun working environment - I can say that I made some really good friends on my placement year which I hope to keep in contact with for a very long time!
The Disney offices are based in London and therefore prices were inevitably quite expensive both for cost of living and socialising.
As the offices are based in London, you only needed to get a short tube and you'd be in central London so the nightlife was very good!
There was a Disney football team which some of the other interns got involved with and there was also kick boxing classes which one of my colleagues on the floor started up - a number of people in our team went to the weekly classes which were certainly very fun! :)
