About You
Insight was enjoyable, there were plenty of opportunities both to listen to presentations and to make questions in addition to informal networking events and also an interesting corporate social responsibility event.
Surely the company spent a lot of money and time on us. They were clearly interested in us however I don't feel all the people in the bank were actually so keen in having us around but that wasn't a problem at all.
There was plenty of advice, including a really nice booklet with all the banking functions, presentations were accurate and people were generally happy to answer to our questions, including the people we had work shadowing with.
We did no real work but obviously what we learnt about how the bank worked and its structure is fundamental to pursue a career in this field.
The Company
The insight was fairly well structured, there was a lot of work shadowing and the graduate team found, understandably, quite challenging to make sure everything proceeded as planned. there has been some variations but overall the structure was ok.
The atmosphere was quite good, the bank now is getting out of trouble and everyone seemed pretty confident in the future. Most people were enthusiastic about their work, which is really important.
The company provided really first class training, both via work shadowing, presentations and interesting workshop delivered also by external agents. Overall it felt the training part was very well organised.
It was extremely useful. Being quite comprehensive it helped me a lot to decide if I wanted to pursue a career in banking or not, taking into account all the different aspects and roles that banking involves.
It was surely very helpful as we had a lot of time to network with senior people and, most of all, we had a lot of work shadowing time where we had the opportunity to speak with analysts on the job and see how it felt being there.
With all the information we have been given it was surely extremely helpful to decide both if I wanted to continue with banking and, most of all, which part of banking I was interested to go for since roles differ really a lot withing the bank!
Everything Else
All reimbursed and accommodation provided, also, no need to use public transport.
As said, particularly during the work shadowing you have the opportunity to meet analysts and also the whole team, including more senior people, which is very useful to understand more about the role and the company culture.
Social events were organised for us, unfortunately firm representatives were not always present so the events were enjoyable but it would have been better and more useful if someone was there.
Corporate social responsibility event was really interesting and funny but apart for that nothing specific was organised by the firm. However it was possible to ask the analysts directly, who were generally very happy to answer.
I'd recommend this, both for the quality of training and the amount of useful information given. However the organization is not the better and some parts of the banks are not very much taken into consideration.
