The Role
I learnt a lot, worked very hard and made new friends. Having been made the graduate offer after made it the perfect internship.
I felt that I was contributing and adding value to the projects running.
Given the busy environment it was difficult to get people's time but when the opportunity arose, people were very keen on imparting their knowledge
I was incredibly busy but I loved being this busy. However, I did have to forego many weekends worth of plans.
I worked independently very often and as the internship progressed I was writing credit reports almost autonomously.
Given that I am returning to the firm, I feel that I learnt an immense amount and not only are the skills applicable to their work but I am also now better at other things such as using Excel and general business conduct.
The Company
Given that we were working long hours, we had sports channels on the walls etc. and there was a good sense of team spirit, although it was mainly dominated by men!
The itinerary was very well organised, well informed and I enjoyed the program events, the socials were great to get to know our intern class.
We had a good training introduction supported by internal systems training and an online platform for investment banking and of course, compliance.
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Healthcare from home
Really pleased to have accepted and signed the offer.
The Culture
Given that we were working in investment banking we did commit to the hours, however, I have made some great friends through the process and look forward to working with them in the future.
I lived at my parental home for the duration of the internship which made commuting difficult.
Sushi Samba was a nice treat on a Friday evening and various bars in London were great. The grad recruitment team organised a party at a place called Bounce where we got to play Ping Pong and it was a great night out.
The job is pretty demanding but there are opportunities for volunteering and various internal societies. Furthermore, many people make time in their day for the gym/sports.
