The Role
I found that support was there if I needed it (which wasn't often). Management and supervisors were particularly useful when dealing with external organisations and difficult situations which arose.
Although it sounds simple, I got work by asking for it. As i built up working relationships with colleagues I found more work was passed my way. If I was too busy to take on extra work, my colleagues were always understanding.
Responsibility started off slowly, and the developed as the internship continued. By the time I had finished the placement, I was a key player in some projects, and was sorry to have to pass on responsibility on my departure!
The skills which I acquired and developed in my time with Mott MacDonald helped me to focus on the important aspects of my final year of university, and gave a valuable insight into the world of work
The Company
Groups went for drinks on Fridays, and many had social connections outside of work. This helped to boost the atmosphere in the office.
I was left very much to my own devices, with support offered if requested, which gave me the opportunity to stretch myself in the working environment (which is what an internship should be about for me)
I was never told that I wouldn't be able to be involved in an activity due to Mott MacDonald not being willing to invest.

The Culture
I lived in Bristol prior to the placement, so the cost of living was no shock.
Bristol is a great town, with lots going on. It is what you make of it. Even if no strong bonds were formed at work, its not hard to imagine finding a group of likeminded individuals in such a diverse city.
There are many events organised through the year. Due to the timing of my placement, I did not experience them all. The ones I was involved in were very fun.
