The Role
I enjoyed coming into work everyday & was really sad to leave at the end of it! If I didn't already have a holiday booked I would have definitely stayed another week.
I'm very grateful for the recognition I was given for my hard work - I was presented with RBC's first ever Special Achievement Award.
My managers made themselves incredibly approachable so I always felt comfortable enough to always ask questions.
Out of the 7 weeks I only had one day where I didn't have enough work to occupy myself with, the rest of the days consisted of a variety of work.
I'd be explained a project and given the space to tackle it myself, though I still had the support of my team if I ran into any difficulties. I'd say my biggest responsibility was acting as a PA to the Managing Directors from the international offices during their visit.
From the rotations I did & people I spoke to, it's helped me direct my module choices. Plus, I really built on my soft skills which has made me more confident with approaching lecturers for help.
The Company
There was always hustle & bustle and I made good friends with my colleagues.
It's evident that the Academy Scheme has built on the experiences of the first year.
I was taken to Bloomberg for training & I also attended internal training sessions such as Compliance & Workplace Etiquette. I also had to partake in e-learning - topics ranged from code of conduct to market abuse.
Subsidised Canteen
I am guaranteed one more summer placement next year, but from then onward I must apply along with other undergraduates in their penultimate year of study. RBC is definitely a place where I can hopefully see myself developing a career.
The Culture
Made good friends with the colleagues in my team and students within the Academy Scheme.
Central London is expensive.
Bars were lively.
We took part in an Apprentice style challenge which involved creating & marketing canapés.
