The Role
I had a fantastic year working as a project management assistant for a change management programme being rolled out across the company globally
From day one I was treated with respect and made to feel welcome and an integral part of the team.
I was encouraged to ask questions and say if I was struggling with anything. My manager always made time for me and supported me with tasks initially until I was confident to complete them on my own.
Generally there was a good balance however some days were more busy than others, and with a lot of responsibility comes a lot of work - but that's life!
I was treated like any other employee and given all my own projects to work on. I was leading the team meetings and given a lot of responsibility which was great as I was able to develop many different skills.
My experience and the skills developed are invaluable and will set me up for working life. I was given one to one coaching and able to participate in many practical training workshops. I feel like a different person going back to university and hugely more confident in my abilities.
The Company
A good balance of fun and work. The atmosphere was really friendly
Brilliantly prepared and set up. There was plenty for me to do and my roles were clear. I was the 4th student to take on that specific job therefore it was nicely developed.
I think there was a good balance between their expectations that I fulfill the role and the fact that I was there for development opportunities and as a learning curve as part of my degree. I was given many opportunities to attend extra training sessions and indeed run some myself. However I would say that my main development was through the responsibility and roles that I was given.
