The Role
George was a great place to work, with a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. My team were always happy to help and coach me through the initial stages of my placement.
Over my placement year, I developed a good working relationship with my department and created friends too. I was always made to feel part of the team and any input I wanted to share was welcomed.
Goals were created to enhance my development and I really feel that I learnt a lot from working at George, that I can take with me through my final year of university and after I graduate. My manager was always approachable and willing to help me with any issues I had.
Working within a team we were able to delegate and I was aware of the certain tasks that were my responsibility. I was kept busy, which I definitely preferred as I was able to gain a breadth of experience.
There were aspects of my job where i felt I was capable of more responsibility, and as the year unfolded I felt a trusted member of the team.
I definitely feel a much more confident person from working at George, having the experience of working in an environment I had never experienced before. It has given me a great understanding of the career I wish to pursue, and the skills I need to be able to achieve my goal.
The Company
Everyone was so easy to get on with, a very relaxed atmosphere throughout George.
The initial stages were quite disorganised, however this was rectified by a new HR team quite early on so from then on there were no issues.
I was able to go on as many training courses as I wished, whether or not they were directly linked to my role- it was great to get a better understanding of the retail industry and other roles that I closely worked alongside. I was also encouraged to go out to visit suppliers and stores.

The Culture
Colleagues are keen to socialise outside of work
Cost of living was no problem, relatively low
In Lutterworth there was very little in terms of nightlife, however it is only 20 mins away from Leicester so not bad!
