The Role
I had such a fantastic year at Disney. Everyday was exciting and provided a new challenge for me. The job role suited me completely and the office atmosphere meant that I enjoyed work every day.
I felt I was seen as 'more than just an intern' as my opinions were valued and listened to which in turn motivated me to work harder. The research team had a great energy and balance between social and work life meaning everyone got on really well.
My supervisor gave me so much support throughout the year through weekly catch ups and progress reviews throughout the period. I felt like he always made time for me and I have learnt so much from him.
Generally there was a good balance however we did go through very busy periods, but I think this is the nature of the work.
I was given huge amounts of responsibility in my placement, including giving presentations to very senior members of staff and managing multi-country projects.
I have learnt so many skills throughout my year at Disney that will help me enourmously in my final year at University and beyond into future employment.
The Company
It was a great atmosphere in the office. Being Disney there were themed rooms and various decorations in the offices that made it a more exciting place to work. Also the team I was sat with were great fun.
There was no intern in the role before me so I had no handover unlike the majority of other interns and had to learn a lot of stuff on my own. Whilst this was daunting I also felt that this was a great learning curve and ultimately made me better at the job, even if I took a little longer to get used to it.
I undertook various compulsory training including a 'Welcome to Disney' day. On top of this I also had the opportunity to attend talks from various companies and senior members of staff in Disney. Also, I was able to work at the flagship Oxford Street store to get a real insight into consumers daily interactions with Disney.

Although Disney does not do any graudate schemes, I know of a lot of past interns who have managed to get a job with Disney.
The Culture
There was a great social scene as there were over 100 interns at Disney.
Obviously living in London is going to be expensive as a student. However, the wage was enough to get by on and I still managed to socialise as much as I wanted.
The nightlife in London is great!
There were various intern socials as well as team nights out.
