The Role
Colleagues were always sure to offer me constructive feedback and take on my opinions of relevant investments on board
I often had to juggle a range of tasks given to me by different colleagues including the intern presentation
I was given a large amount of responsibility from ensuring client presentations were completed to deadlines and sending out the quarterly report to valued clients
My analytical skills were tested as I had to model specific securities using Bloomberg, and my relationship management skills were tested as I sat in on many product development meetings. Further to this, my presentation skills were tested as I presented on China's interest rate reform to 20 fund managers.
The Company
The general atmosphere was very relaxed and more casual than previous internships in investment banks
The internship was organised with training and events; however there was a limited amount of progress reporting and objectives.
The team I interned on spent a lot of time with me making sure I thoroughly understood the products and the funds
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
The Culture
I went out for drinks with my team twice and one event was organised by HR. The majority of the events were organised by the interns themselves which was often daily
The offices are based in the City so prices were as you would expect in London
There are a range of clubs and bars such as Abacus and Vodka Revolutions which attracted many interns
We were invited to watch the softball and netball teams plan and there was a great opportunity to get involved
