The Role
It was challenging and no day was the same which made me throughly enjoy working at Hays. There were great people and exciting opportunities to get as much out of my placement as possible.
I took on running the temporary recruitment desk by myself and where I was under excellent guidance I was able to have extensive knowledge in the specialism I was working for therefore I felt very valued by my colleagues.
I was given monthly reviews in which I was able to say what I wanted to get out of my placement and also feedback on how I was doing. I felt my manager was approachable and able to speak freely when I had an issue.
There were times where I was very busy however I enjoyed this aspect and it helped me to largely develop my key skills. I was able to prioritise and my organisation skills have vastly improved.
After a restructuring within my team I was then able to be responsible for running the temporary recruitment desk. This meant I was talking to clients within the major banks also meeting with them and placing around 5-10 candidates a week within roles.
I have improved my organisational skills, time management and prioritisation. I feel working with Hays has helped my professionalism within the workplace and also given me confidence. I feel that they will be able to now approach my final year at University and within my future work.
The Company
There were monthly wrap ups where the whole of Hays Cheapside would come together to see how everyone was doing. The atmosphere was definitely a major factor as to why I thoroughly enjoyed my placement.
I was enrolled on training courses and had a monthly meeting with my manager to go through what I wanted to achieve that month and then come back and discuss whether it was achieved or not.
I attended training sessions to help me develop my knowledge within the firm and monthly meetings helped with my personal training and development
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
My director was throughly impressed with my work and expressed that there would be a role after I came out of University.
The Culture
There were many placement students within Hays and as the atmosphere was really good within the office we were able to interact and therefore became very close. Also as everyone is very friendly and there were nights monthly that Hays would rent out a bar close by with drink provided we were able to all come together.
As i worked in London there were many places that had happy hour which helped with going out with work. Also as there were tesco's and other stores nearby I was able to purchase cheap lunch deals etc.
In the City it has a great nightlife and you are able to go out and meet a lot of new people. All the happy hour places were filled with people Thursdays and Fridays!
There were clubs and societies that were linked with Hays. They had zumba classes that you could sign up to also there were clothing stores that would come to work and give discount so you could shop in your lunch hour without even leaving the office!
