The Role
Good organisation of the placement and good people. Task set within teams varied a great deal but opportunities to meet staff and senior management were unlimited.
It was not easy to access the extent to which you could add value to the team but my teams made sure I was comfortable and integrated
Fantastic feedback from mentor, buddy and managers
It varied across the internship
A great deal of independence
Some points on the feedback will stay with me for a long time.
The Company
This varied within teams. But both had a buzz about them for the tasks they were doing and just how much more they wanted to find out about things
HR were always available to help and sorted any issues out promptly. Within teams, organisation varied so that it took a while for some teams to give me a task. In retrospect, there was so much to learn before attempting the tasks
The presentations and their respective feedback was very good. I think the Feedback mechanism here is honest and detailed. In terms of other types of training, this was done through online courses and other intranet programs and if you get stuck then colleagues. Opportunities were also offered to other interns to go on training courses to develop particular skills e.g presentation.
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
The company looks strong with a clear strategy for the future ahead. But analyst pay has pretty much been frozen over the last three years.
The Culture
Oh yes!
London is VERY expensive. The closer you live to the city or canary wharf the more expensive it is. With some interns paying up to £250 a week for a shoe box.
Brilliant. Shoreditch was such good fun
CSR days to help out a nearby school park and 5K event was very nice. Networking drinks and so on too
