The Role
The internship was a great experience and I enjoyed it very much. I was quite anxious at first but settled into corporate life really quickly. It was a worthwhile experience.
I did indeed feel valued my colleagues. Nothing they said or did made me feel like they didn't treat me well. I expected this anyway and wouldn't have enjoyed my time at Barclays if I didn't feel valued.
All the support and guidance was given not only by my manager but also my team as well. I was never 'stuck' and felt I could always get help when I needed it.
Great balance of work daily. Really enjoyed the balance of work that I had and didn't feel too over or under worked.
Gave me quite a bit of responsibility that I was quite surprised at first. They let me handle code that was going live and it was exciting (for me at least).
The skills I have developed are unarguably skills for life. I have had a very productive time working at Barclays. These skills will be used for the rest of university and in my career.
The Company
Pretty good atmosphere. Was not really sure what to expect from a corporate environment in London, but it wasn't as strict as I thought it would be. I had fun and worked well with my team.
Great organisation. Can't fault it. They let us know when company events were happening and also gave us assistance when we needed it which was good.
Great training opportunities for even the interns shows that the firm really invests in the development of its employees. I was really impressed. They want everyone to do well and work to the best of their ability.
Company Parties/Events
I've got a graduate job with them starting next year!
The Culture
Pretty good. Had quite a few nights out to get to know each other. End of internship event was great fun as well.
Quite expensive I have to say. Most people found it that way but some are better at managing money than others!
Nightlife in London is great. Needs to be experienced definitely.
There were company parties and events that the interns could go to. My team also organised a few nights out.
