The Role
My year with Disney was absolutely brilliant. I gained invaluable experience and was able to learn and evolve in a creative and supporting environment. The vast number of interns also made it very easy to meet new people and get involved with social events happening outside of work.
The Franchise Management team within Disney was very welcoming and made me feel like an integral part of the team. As the Franchise team works across the entire company, I also gained exposure to a lot of the other departments within Disney.
The Management within the Franchise team were great in supporting me throughout the year. As the year progressed I was allocated more and more responsibility to complete independent projects etc. The culture within Disney also encourages its cast members (employees) to ask questions on things they aren't sure about. Therefore, I always felt comfortable seeking guidance from my managers and other cast members.
As the role includes a variety of work, I never had two consecutive days doing the same thing. Having said that, I was never short of work to do.
Throughout the year, the management put more and more trust into myself and my work. This meant that they increasingly allowed me to own projects and eventually represent the team in presentations etc. to external partners as well as internal staff.
I cannot express enough how my year at Disney, and especially with the Franchise team, has aided all aspects of my career, degree and personal life. Having worked with some of the best in the business across Disney, I have acquired an abundance of skills and knowledge that have, and will continue, to help me in the future.
The Company
Disney itself promotes fun and great experiences, and this was definitely shown in the working environment. The Franchise team are a great group of people to work with, and I couldn't have enjoyed my year with them more. Obviously Mickey and Minnie popping in every now and again is a bonus!
The set up was great as there are so many interns that work there. The social life is also great. I personally was involved in an intern 5-aside football team.
The company offers training schemes and talks with senior members of staff etc. which allows you to hear their career stories and receive advice.

The perks of the job are great. My desk was covered with Disney toys and posters, I went to a few movie Premieres (Oz, The Lone Ranger, Iron Man 3,...), it gives you an opportunity to live in London,....
The Culture
As there is such a vast number of interns across the two Disney offices, there is a great social scene and you get the chance to make some really good friends throughout the year.
London itself is a very expensive city to live in, however about 95% of the interns I knew managed to live there and still be able to socialise etc. As you're paid and still receive a student loan it's fine.
London's nightlife is great. There are so many places to go you'll never be short of ideas.
Disney will help put you in contact with sports clubs etc. as much as they can. There are also clubs available that are run by people within the company, e.g. yoga.
