The Role
I enjoyed working in my division (Operations), but was certain by the halfway point that I did not want to pursue Operations as a career. However, once I had voiced this to the campus recruiters, they were fantastic in giving me advice on how best to learn from the other areas of the bank, so I was able to get a valuable insight into the whole company. I am very grateful for this.
My team were incredibly welcoming, helpful and really good fun to work with. I felt like a valued member.
I was always given fantastic support by both my line manager and the campus recruiting team, who helped me to understand where I might fit in in the bank, and how to make the most of my experience.
I was mostly kept very busy, but there were some slower days. On the slower days, I was given permission to utilise online learning resources which was a great way to continue expanding my knowledge.
I was surprised at the amount of responsibility I was given. Towards the end of my placement, I was even tasked with producing an independent report for the European Head of my division - which was a big deal!
Handling large bodies of data in Excel everyday and learning new concepts such as VBA will be invaluable for my degree course in Management Studies this year, as well as in my future career.
The Company
The atmosphere was always hard-working, but never verging on too serious or dull. The team were a great support and good fun to be around.
I was very impressed with the organisation of the internship. We always knew what was going on and were kept in the loop.
I felt very supported during my internship. When I expressed an interest in sitting on some other desks, it was always very easy to find somebody to talk to or to be introduced to. The training and development throughout was impressive.

Company Parties/Events
I am delighted to say that I received a job offer from RBC, which I will most certainly be accepting.
The Culture
The social aspect of the internship was very fun. Being in the heart of the City of London, there were always great places to eat and catch up.
It was fairly expensive! But we were paid well so that didn't matter as much...
Mostly good!
There were many opportunities at RBC, however, as I wasn't there for very long over the Summer, it was difficult to get very involved.
