    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I felt very comfortable and relaxed throughout my placement which made the experience even more enjoyable. Whilst I know that I do not want a career in Market Research, the support and friendship I received meant I had an enjoyable time. Also, I gained lots of transferable skills and enjoyed the routine of my job - I always knew what needed to be done and by when which meant I could work independently.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My team were really lovely and never treated me as just 'the itern'. Right from day one I was given responsibility and was treated like a real valued member of the team I was working within.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I had a fantastic relationship with my team: they encouraged me to use my initiative and I never felt stupid when asking the same question multiple times.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was always busy and had work to be getting on with and there were times throughout the year e.g. coming up to a film release, when there would be lots of work but it was never unmanageable. My managers always checked whether my workload was okay for me and never gave me too much to handle.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility right from day one. I was worried that I would just be seen as 'the intern' and treated less equal to everyone else in my team, however my team were very welcoming and I never felt inferior to them in any way at all as we all had equal amounts of work to be getting on with

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Due to all the experiences I have had during my year here and the work I have carried out, I have now come to the conclusion that marketing is the area in which I hope to go into after graduating. The skills I have developed and training I was given will hopefully prove invaluable in my future job applications and have given me the opportunity to talk about real life examples of film campaigns I have helped with for when it comes to future job interviews.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I had a great time where I sat as I chatted to the people around me constantly (whilst working of course).

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • They knew what they wanted me to be doing but never made me feel under pressure as they gradually increased my workload as my confidence grew which I really appreciated.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was actively encouraged during my time at Disney to get involved as much as I could and so have experienced working life within other departments within the company, as well as my own. I was also given the opportunity to sit in on specific meetings to learn about new processes so everyday I seemed to learn something new!

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Healthcare/Dental

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I joined LinkedIn so I can keep in touch with everyone I met at Disney after I graduate. I have heard of several previous interns being recommended for roles after finishing Uni which is great

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I can say that I made some really good friends on my placement year which I hope to keep in contact with for a very long time!

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • It's London so obviously it's going to cost more but I didn't care because I think the place is amazing! A bottle of beer would often cost me a fiver, but I got over it. There's so much to do and if you want you can do stuff on the cheap what with all the free museums etc

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There's something for everyone in London! There are still so many clubs I am yet to go to.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There was a Disney football team which some of the other interns got involved with and there was also kick boxing classes which one of my colleagues on the floor started up - a number of people in our team went to the weekly classes which were certainly very fun!
