The Role
It was great, a good balance of different types of work, and constantly supported by line manager and colleagues.
Welcomed me very warmly, invited me to socials, etc.
Great support, taught me to use programs and the company systems, helped me with any problems I had, told me good ways of approaching jobs, etc.
Varied quite a bit, sometimes there was a lot of work, other times I would be struggling to find things to do.
A good amount, but not too much, considering I am a placement student after all. I was sometimes the sole designer of certain elements, which underwent appoval of course.
Learnt a huge variety of useful skills, from CAD to business management, as well as risk management and general design.
The Company
Pretty good, friendly atmosphere, social but everyone knew people had work to do at the same time.
Start and set-up was a bit wonky with IT and HR stuff, but otherwise well-organised. Efficient and fast email and telephone system, clear avenues of support.
Allowed me to take training courses, I was also able to purchase some software that would greatly help me and the projects.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Definitely will consider working with them in future.
The Culture
Good sporting events organised weekly or every other week, socials also organised prety much every week.
Not bad, outside London so not too cheap but not too expensive either. Was near the town centre so lots of places to eat/go to. Don't know about living expenses - lived at home during the placement.
Didn't really participate in them.
Lots of voluntary and charity work, sports teams to join, professional institutions to be a part of and more.
